Reader,
Happy Friday! Wow, gorgeous day here in the PNW. Hope you got something good planned this weekend. I’m looking forward to discussing two passions tonight with friends: enneagram and cocktails!
This is my 5 for Friday: Five minutes, on a Friday, for an Enneagram Five, to share Five quick tips, tidbits, and tech tricks that are working for me, and hopefully for YOU too. Drop me a message and let me know what you think.
Ok, so a lot of us have loved the Robert Frost poem, “The Road Not Taken.” Recently came across this little gem of an article that reminds us to be careful. For as Frost said “it’s a tricky poem—very tricky.”
What if what is being explored here is not reveling in the road that we took, as an individualistic and triumphant exploit? What if actually it’s about recognizing that it is in reminiscing, in telling stories about the choices that we have made, that the reality is described? Makes me wonder about the stories of regret that I tell myself about the choices I’ve made.
The question for you today:
Where might you need to tell yourself a different story about the roads you have taken to get here?
I have not started this yet, but plan to join up with our church in following along this Advent with an online reading every day. Check out Kate Bowler’s Bless the Advent We Actually Have online. Also, our friends gave us this advent devotional from Richard Rohr which we look forward to reading as well.
This past week I really enjoyed Jay Shetty’s interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Not only do I love Arnold’s accent, but his attitude about having a vision and going after something is motivating. He shares a lot of great stories in this interview and apparently in his new book.
This makes me giggle, for next time you have to flip a coin. Apparently just choose the side facing up before the flip. This one comes from a recommended person to follow, Carey Nieuwhof, if you are a leader or pastor.
Here’s to recognizing that our day to day choices do matter:
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
